I found out today about a job I interviewed for last week....and it was the BEST news I've ever gotten (well...almost)!! I am going to be the Community News Editor for the Tooele Transcript Bulletin! I applied for the job on a whim, not thinking I'd hear back, but amazingly I heard back the next day, had a job interview 2 days later, and a now a week after that, I've been hired!
I am so happy and so excited to be starting a job doing what I love to do. I have worked really hard my whole life to become a journalist. I feel like all of my hard work is finally paying off, and the best part is, my job is going to be something I LOVE to do. Every day will be something new and exciting I'm sure, because news is always happening, and now I will get to be there covering it day in and day out!
I am going to miss the companies I currently work for, Nelson Labs and The Valley Journals. I have enjoyed working for both, and have really appreciated what I have learned. I have made some great friends at both places and while it's going to be sad leaving these two companies behind, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.
On that note, check out the newspaper I'm going to work for!!! www.tooeletranscript.com

More pics of our house!
I'm sorry that all my blog posts only consist of our new house, but it's the most exciting thing going on for us right now so just deal with it! Haha. Anyway, here are some more photos of the progress.
We are still set to move in on Dec. 15...and we're keeping our fingers crossed that the date doesn't change for any reason! We can't wait to finally be in our home!
Our new countertops in the kitchen! I think they look great! Much better than what was there before.
Another view of the kitchen countertops
The family room! The walls are painted and the light fixtures are installed. Yay!
The storage closet...also painted and ready for carpeting!
The downstairs bathroom. Still waiting on the mirror and some other things, but it's coming along!
Another view of the bathroom. I love the flooring!

Another update!
John and I went and visited our house again, and wow are they going to town! They have done so much in just a week! Anyway, here are some more pictures of our basement and patio...
Here are the doors to our utility closet...I know, it's probably not exciting to anyone but me.
John standing in our storage room. It's going to be so nice to have those shelves to store things on!
Some more storage shelves in our storage room.
Our completed patio!
Another view of the patio...we are going to get a nice cover for the window well so no one (A.K.A. me) falls into it.
Our office nook! The walls are all texturized and ready to be painted. The door on the left goes into the bathroom.
Our family room! Again, the walls are ready to be painted. We've heard they'll paint on Monday so that's exciting!
Another view of the family room. John is standing in the dooway to the storage room.
I'm sure I'll have more updates in about a week, so stay posted!

Progress!
We were finally able to meet with the design center about our basement and a few other changes we wanted on our home and get everything finalized! So this last week John and I went to check out the progress. They have already gotten up most of the framing in the basement, and even the bathtub too (kind of random...haha). They have changed the bathroom countertops upstairs (yay for no more purple countertops!), and have started working on our patio. And the most exciting news is...we found out our move-in day is DECEMBER 15!!! Let the count down begin!
Here are some photos of the progress...

Our bathtub! It looks so out of place right now, but this bathroom is going to look really nice when it's finished.

We Are Going To Be...
...HOMEOWNERS!!!
John and I have been looking at homes for a few months now, and at first it was nothing serious, but as we kept browsing, we decided we were finally ready to move on from our apartment and start a new chapter of our lives together. We looked at a couple of really gross houses, a couple that needed some TLC, and a couple that just didn't seem right. Finally, after about 10-15 houses, we finally knew we had found THE ONE!
We went home and thought about it for two weeks, and we just kept talking about this place and fantasizing about what furniture we would put where, etc., so we made a second appointment to go look at it. Well, one thing led to another, and before we knew it, we were putting in an offer! We were on pins and needles for about three days, and didn't tell anyone (except for our parents) until we heard back...and it was good news!!
I am so excited for everything we are getting with our new home. It has 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. And we are going to have a garage, closets, hardwood floors, a patio and we are going to live near a lake!! It's amazing what can be exciting after you've lived in various apartments for the past 5 years...haha.
Anyway, our new home will be in South Jordan in a community called Daybreak. I am also really proud to call that our new community because recently Extreme Makeover: Home Edition did a project out there where they built the cutest family a new home in Daybreak, and the builders of our home are the same builders of their home. They seemed like awesome people with a good, honest company. If you're interested in checking out the amazing Gomez family (and our future neighbors!!) visit this site, and don't watch the episode without lots of Kleenex!
I'm sure if you are reading this then you have probably already seen photos of our new home, but I thought I'd post some up anyway...
The basement is not finished, so because of that, we have to wait to move in. We have an appointment with the design center in a couple of weeks to figure out how we want our basement designed, and then from there things should get rolling. They've told us we should be able to move in sometime in December, so we'll see if everything works out!

The front of our new home! It is a townhome, and from the outside it looks like it. But once you step inside, you will feel like you are in a regular house.

The dining area. You can also see into the kitchen area, and the door on the far right goes down into the basement.

The kitchen! I do not like the counter tops, so we are having them changed to granite. I haven't picked the color yet, but I'm planning on doing a dark brown. The appliances are beautiful though!

Viva Las Vegas!
We just got back from our final trip of the summer...but we went out with a bang! We went to Las Vegas for the long weekend and it was a blast! John, our friend Chris, and I road tripped down there and had a busy two days, but we had so much fun that it was worth it! I'll just let the photos speak for themselves like I usually do with my posts! :)
Chris and John in our awesome hotel room...or should I say rooms? It was a huge suite! Thanks, Chris!
The cool view from our window.
Me being a dork and showing off the view...haha
John and Chris checking out all the stuff going on outside on The Strip
The kitchen/living area in me and John's room
The living area in Chris' room. The place was so huge & comfy! Probably bigger than our apartment haha.
Even the kleenexes were fancy!
John and Chris hanging out in the foyer between our rooms
My extremely good looking husband and me!!
Hanging out with the boys at the rooftop pool!
This was our view from the window at night...my camera would not take a good pic! But it was awesome!
At dinner at Todai...a sushi/seafood buffet. Yum!
Look at how cute and tiny all the desserts were!
The Paris!
Also at The Paris!
The water show at the Bellagio!
John and I at the water show.
This is part of the indoor garden area at the Bellagio.
John and I standing in front of a cool tree in the Bellagio...and some giant birds! Interesting art.
Cheeseburger Las Vegas...a REALLY good restaurant we went to thanks to my friend Ashley L! So glad you sent us there Ash! :)
Look at John's burger! Wow! It was called the "It's All Good" Burger and honestly...it was ALL good! Haha.
Chris eating his "5-napkin" burger. Haha.
At the Miracle Mile Shops! I was in heaven. So many cool stores!
Outside the Mirage on our way to Beatles LOVE.
I had to get my photo next to the dolphins...haha.
Beatles LOVE!!! The most amazing show EVER!
Standing on the walkway!
And here's John on the walkway!
This was so cool! And that's not even the beginning. I highly recommend seeing Beatles LOVE if you go to Vegas!
John sitting by one of the fountains at Caesar's Palace.
Frrrozen Hot Chocolate (That's really how it's spelled!) from Serendipity 3....thanks to my friend Cristie who told us about this amazing treat! :)
Enjoying our yummy frrrozen hot chocolate outside of Caesar's Palace. So worth the calories!!!
We saw tons of street performers each night there. This guy was one of the coolest. His sign says "Stone Art" and he was so still sometimes! Very fun to watch.
I just had to put this one up...poor little John all tuckered out after his first official trip to Las Vegas. Haha.
Besides what's posted....we also spent the night in St. George at my aunt's house, visited my Dad's memorial at Nellis AFB (I have photos of the memorial, but am debating about posting them up - if anything they deserve their own post), visited with my Dad's best friend from childhood Glen and his girlfriend Natalie, the boys went golfing, and we spent a lot of time at the pool relaxing! Other than that...What happens in Vegas...stays in Vegas....haha! :)
